Edison/Ford Estates
30 minutes south of Punta Gorda are the two homes of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. The furnishings and architecture of these gracious buildings are reminiscent of a bygone era, yet there are many innovations which we do not have in our homes today.
The three and one half acre winter estate of Henry Ford was built in 1911. It faces the palm lined McGregor Blvd.
The Edison Winter Estate is located on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River.
Throughout the Estate are many examples of Edison's inventions, his laboratory and workshop, vast gardens and how he and his wife, Mina, lived in their well preserved home.
